Is new music by The Strokes imminent?
In the past I’ve tried to be cautious about the rumors regarding potential new music by The Strokes.
Previously the hype has built before and nothing has come of it
This time however the hype is very real.
Julian Casablancas launches his new Sirius XM radio show today (Thursday 26 May 2016) at 10:00 EST and this would be an ideal time for a new single by The Strokes to be revealed. Noisey Music speculate such a thing happening and the Cult Records Twitter doesn’t deny it.
The must compelling evidence are the clips which have appeared in both New York and London last night.

Also it is worth noting that new albums and singles are released worldwide on Fridays so previewing a song on a Thursday would make sense.
One final piece of evidence is the Cult Records website which currently has a mailing list sign up for The Strokes on the front page but also has the hashtag #FuturePresentPast. Â Something is definitely happening.

The hype is real. I really have no idea what the new music will sound like – will it continue with the 1980s influence heard on the last two albums Angles and Comedown Machine? Or will it be a rawer sound like Julian Casablancas and The Voidz? Time will tell and thankfully we won’t have to wait long.
Regarding Julian’s Sirius Radio show, I believe it is unfortunately US only and you need to subscribe to listen, though a 30 day free trail is available. Hopefully if a new single is played it will be available on ITunes, You Tube, Amazon etc immediately afterwards.
